Hamilton County Historical
Alliance met at Jewell Historical Museum on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
A tour of the museum was given. The meeting was called to order at
10:15 am. There were 13 in attendance.
Roll call theme was ‘Remember and tell of an influential
person in your town’s history’. Members from each town reported on
the theme question.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved
with a motion by Steffen and a second by Spohnheimer.
Chairman Adix read the revised version of the Articles
of Constitution. The Constitution was approved with recommendations for
modification. Moved by Johnson and seconded by Spohnheimer.
Discussions and Information Sharing:
* Alan Spohnheimer reported the next Story County
Historical Society meeting will be held on Tuesday, 2:00pm, at the Gilbert
Community Center.
* Jewell Jubilee is the 2nd weekend in in June.
* Bethesda Lutheran Church is selling rectangle
tables for $25 each.
* Dick Steffen reported on the efficiency of
2 Men and a Truck. He also shared information on the museum’s new
shelving units.
* Nancy Kayser has donated materials to the
Ellsworth Historical Museum. Janet Adix read the list of items received.
* Janet also shared brochures received from
Arlen Twedt, author of the book, “The Central Iowa Norwegians.” The book
contains histories, memoirs and studies of the Norwegian settlement from
1855 to 1905. Volume 2 will be available in 2018, and volume 3 will
be available in 2019.
* Alan Spohnheimer reported he has Plat books
online.
Meeting Adjourned at 11:14, with a motion by Spohnheimer,
and a second by Johnson.
